Mn Refinance-Finding Minnesota Mortgage Brokers That Care

Finding Minnesota Mortgage Brokers That Care

Time and time again I hear horror stories about how homeowners have been put into a mortgage that they did not deserve. This usually happens when you deal with a mortgage broker or mortgage company that has little to no standards. Now that the refinance boom has come to a halt most mortgage companies in Minnesota have packed up their bags and went back to the jobs they came from. This has placed a negative impact on the mortgage industry as a whole and leaves the career minded mortgage broker to fix the problem that unethical brokers created.

When shopping for a mortgage broker ask them if they are associated with The National Association of Mortgage Broker, also known as NAMB. NAMB is the voice of the mortgage industry and has been representing the interest of mortgage brokers and homeowners since 1973. NAMB provides mortgage brokers with professional education and certification programs which recognize professionals within the industry that have a high standard of ethics.

There are also governmental associations within each state that are committed to improving education, and the quality and integrity of mortgage brokers. In the state of Minnesota, this agency is known as the Minnesota Mortgage Association or MMA. If the mortgage broker or mortgage company that you are working with is not a part of one or either of these association I would recommend looking elsewhere for your home loan.

Now that you have determined that the mortgage company you are working with does have a standard of ethics and integrity, how do you know they are looking out for your best interest? The answer to this question is by the questions that your mortgage broker asks you. A mortgage broker that cares about you and your future will ask about your future and your goals, understanding your goals will help your mortgage broker put together a program that fits into your budget and your long term financial goals.

Last but not least, ask your friends, family and even co-workers if they have heard of the Mortgage Company and/or mortgage broker that you are thinking about securing financing through. Their insight might help you avoid a costly mistake.
